Jesus’ suffering and death were part of God’s plan (Isa 53:10; Acts 2:23).
Jesus Himself foretold His own suffering and death (Mt 16:21; Jn 12:32-33).
Jesus knew that the timing of His crucifixion was also according to God’s will (Jn 12:23, 27; 17:1).
He emptied Himself by taking the form of a bondservant and coming in the likeness of men (Phil 2:7).
Though being God and having no need for anything, He gave up His throne above to come to the world. He became human — poor and lowly, that through Him we might become rich spiritually (2 Cor 8:9).
He became a ransom, humbling Himself to the point of death (Mk 10:45; Phil 2:8).
Jesus willingly laid down His life (Jn 10:17-18), like a lamb led to the slaughter (Isa 53:7; Jn 1:29).
